African Tea
Africa is one of the major tea producers. According to the FAO, seven East and Central African countries are among the world’s top 20 producers of tea. The main tea producing countries are: Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Mozambique. Most names tea connoiseurs are familiar with are Assam, Ceylon, Darjeeling, Fujian, yet when Kenya is mentioned "coffee" is the first thing that comes to mind. In 1998 Kenya was the largest black tea exporter in the world. Many Indian teas are blended with African teas from Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
